Instructions
- If the canvas floor cloth is not pre-primed,
apply 1 coat of Gesso to the entire surface. Allow cloth to dry. Sand and
apply a second coat. Allow to dry.
- Cut a 4” x 4" square of the floor cloth for mug
rug. Measure a 1/4" border around the front of the mug rug. Paint the
border and back side of the coaster with Black.
- Basecoat the center of the coaster with 2 coats
of Barn Red.
- Transfer the pattern with the light transfer
paper.
- Basecoat the pear with Golden Brown. Float
a shade on the left side of the pear with Burnt Umber. Load the
Dynasty® Series 200 brush, size #12 with
Straw. Soft dry brush the bottom center of the pear. Load the
same dirty brush with Ivory and repeat the soft dry brush technique.
- Load the liner brush with thinned Black.
Paint the blanket stitch around the pear. Add the stem and the
detail stitching on the pear with Burnt Umber.
- Load the Black Gold® Series 206L liner brush,
size 10/0, with Golden Brown and paint the blanket stitch around the inner
edge of the border.
- Antiquing. Make a wash of Burnt Umber on your
palette. Brush the wash over the entire design. Wipe off with a clean rag if too
dark.
- To finish, apply 2 to 3 coats of Delta Ceramcoat
Exterior/Interior Matte Varnish on the front and back of the coaster (mug
rug).
Allow coaster to dry thoroughly between each application.
