Basic Blanket
Instructions Using the Wave Brush
by: Sharon Teal-Coray
I
love to paint texture and after searching for a long time to find the right
brush, I found that the wave brush creates just the right amount of texture
for my blankets.
Here is how I do it:
-
Turn your canvas so your brush lines up with the first fold at a 90-degree
angle.
-
Start at the top of the fold and stipple in you first highlight color
moving your brush back and forth in a line along the fold using a Black
Gold Wave brush.
-
Repeat this across each fold slowly moving towards the shadow area.
-
Make sure you keep the lightest area on the side where the light is coming
from. As you move across toward the shadows make sure you do not bring too
much light into that area.
-
Keep your lights and heavy texture where the light is most evident.
-
Be sure to overlap your stippling on the edge of each fold and each color
to create “depth”.
-
The texture will usually not show up in the very dark areas
Use
the size brush depending on the size of the area you are painting, if it is
a small area choose a smaller Wave Brush.
