The founding for the
present SAUER company goes back to 1793 in Paris. Today it is the oldest
European Manufacture of Fine Brushes. In 1925, Max Sauer Jr.
transferred the manufacture of Fine Brushes to Saint-Brieuc. In 1925, the
Sauer Frères (brothers) Company was founded which with Charles and Robert
Sauer continued to manufacture Paint Brushes in Hardricourt.
The Company’s succession
is now represented by Jean-Roch Sauer since 1975 and by Eric Sauer since
1987 and pursues in the updating of products and methods of the family
tradition of rigor in the management of team work, of quality in the brushes
and of optimum service to the Company’s Customers.
The family company has
since then diversified its actvity, with the acquisition in the eighties of
prestigious companies such as Berge (canvas), Isabey (fine Artist Brushes)
and Sennelier (Artist Colors and Art Paper). Becoming a world leader in
Artist and decorative material, Raphaël carries on its growth, thanks to one
of the most complete and innovative catalogue in the world and thanks to a
philosophy based on the refusal of any concession concerning the quality of
its products.
